Ron’s Tip of the Day Coronavirus vs. Writing

Welcome to Ron’s Tip of the Day. Throughout the week I will share a tip with you. This is an experiment in microblogging. Let me know how I’m doing. Today I am looking at Coronavirus vs. Writing.

How has the Coronavirus altered your life? Did you change your writing habits? Did you stop writing? Let’s take a look at our response.

  • Did You Change Travel Plans?

We took a mini vacation this past weekend but curtailed our traveling after Tuesday. Our travels now consist of stores and doctor’s offices.

  • Did You Change Where You Write?

I get a lot of my ideas for writing sitting in a restaurant or fast-food place or sometimes in my wife’s doctor’s Waiting Room. Today was a Waiting Room. But most of the time it has been a fast food place like McDonald’s. But they’ve closed Dine-in, so that is out.

Part of writing is research, so no I do that at home instead of the Library. But I still research and I still write.

  • Did You Stop Writing?

No. I adjusted. And that is my advice to you. Adjust, don’t stop.

  • What Are Your Future Plans?

Going forward we will be staying informed and calm. With the media in panic mode and emphasizing worst case scenarios, it is hard to remain calm. But as the President said, this too shall pass.

So, going forward my Tip of the Day is Keep calm, Keep informed (use government site not TV), and Keep Writing.

My wife (Tess) and I are authors and co-founders of T&R Independent Books. Founded in 2014 TR publishes our books and promotes writing. While we write in two different genres (Tess in Teen and mystery, myself in historical fiction) both writings are from a Christian perspective. I am first a Christian and secondly an author. I love writing about Old Testament saints. Whenever I write I always try to place myself within the primary character's shoes. In long novels that means I may focus on different characters at differing times. The result hoped for is that I bring the character to life. Apparently, according to reviewers, I have achieved this. I also write in Speculative fiction (future history, if you will), plus we've not started TR Writing Services to assist new and struggling authors to write and publish using the Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) platform. And we keep our prices low.
