Harris Making a Move?

The Riddle Report 02 17 2021

News Item #1

Is Harris making a move?

Last year then candidate Joe Biden told ABC,”I think it’s a legitimate question to ask anybody over 70 years old whether or not they’re fit and whether they’re ready.”

In the same interview, he added, “It’s a legitimate question to ask anybody, watch me.”

It is safe to say that Americans are watching. With the widely held belief that Biden is merely a stand-in for Kamala Harris it is noticeable that the Vice President appears to be assuming a more Presidential role. That role is the calling of the heads of states of other countries.

News Item #2

The Importance of Personally Calling Heads of States.

This is a very important role. It is through personal contact that these heads of states get to know the President. In some cases, they may have never met him before. Whichever, they use this opportunity to get a read and try to understand what makes the President tick.

There are two recent examples of how the President of the United States uses personal contact to influence international relations.

The first is President Obama wherein he made personal contact by phone and later through his Apology Tour. It is quite reasonable to say that foreign leaders quickly got a read of the man. In public they often praised him, but in private they either ignored his leadership or laughed about it.

History already records the fact that the United States stood by while Russia took land from the Ukraine. Treaties were made that cost the United States great sums of money with no real achievements accomplished.

The second example is President Trump who also used personal phone calls and a personal trip to influence leaders around the world. Under his leadership the United States forced the European Union to provide a bigger share of support for NATO, thus evening the playing field for the United States. The United States also withdrew from treaties that took advantage of us and brokered treaties that provided for greater peace in the MidEast.

In addition, his tough diplomacy stopped Russian President Putin from further expansion, and opened up a tiny although historic window with both China and North Korea.

Though most foreign leaders didn’t like President Trump they realized early on that he would be tough. To protect their own interests, they had to back down and accede to much of what President Trump wanted.

News Item #3

VP Harris made the calls

She has made multiple calls to heads of state. For example, her call to French President Emmanuel Macron, she discussed bilateral ties, the transatlantic alliance, Covid-19, climate change, and the Middle East.

By acting like the Head of State of America she was able to provide the leaders her credentials, her thinking, and her personality. There was no mention of President Joe Biden or his goals.

News Item #4

An Elevated Position

This has already created the view that it is a sign of her having an elevated position, particularly in matters of foreign affairs. Considering Biden’s tendency to forget things, which could be a sign of dementia, this would be a smart move on her part. It would also pave the way for a transition to her as President if, or more likely when, Biden steps aside.

News Item #5

President Biden Oldest President

At the age of 78, President Biden became the oldest person to enter the White House as President of the United States. Nothing against those of us also in our 70s, I’m 77 soon to be 78, but Biden has been showing growing signs of dementia especially during the campaign.

The strategy of the campaign was to keep him under wraps in his basement. The strategy in the White House seems to be to let VP Harris handle as much as possible.

News Item #6

Conclusion

I think we are beginning to see what I shall call the Basement White House. Just as he was kept under wraps and kept from saying much  during the campaign, I think We will see Kamala Harris become the strongest Vice President ever. Not because she is such a good vice president, but because they can’t afford to have a President who forgets who he is talking to or talking about.

She is merely making the necessary steps for taking the Presidency. When the day comes that the 25th Amendment will need to be used, the goal will be an easy, if not transparent, transfer of power to Harris. It will be similar to us going to bed at night with President Joe Biden on top and waking up in the morning with President Kamala Harris calling the shots.

So, it is already time to pay attention to what Vice President Kamala Harris says and does. It is possible the transition has just begun.

Sometimes People Miss It

Monday through Friday I deal with different subjects in this blog. I also post my blog to my Facebook page at RFrederickRiddlesWorld. Monday’s I try to focus on issues. This week I am taking a look at Sometimes People Miss It.
Normally I write Insights on Tuesdays, but today I’m tackling another subject. I opened my newspaper today and began reading about Trump’s planned visit to Pittsburgh which is the site of the horrendous massacre. In the very beginning of the article I read this:
“… some members of the Jewish community and others objected to President Donald Trump’s plans to visit, accusing him of contributing to a toxic political climate in the U.S. that might have led to the bloodshed.
“… Some Pittsburghers urged Trump to stay away. “His language has encouraged hatred and fear of immigrants, which is part of the reason why these people were killed.”
REALLY?
If I was a betting man (I’m not) I would bet that 100% of the Jews in Pittsburgh are either LEGAL immigrants or descendants of LEGAL immigrants! I have neither read nor heard of any problem that anyone in government has with Jewish Immigration or any legal immigration.
Although for some strange reason U.S. Jews tend to be liberal, in contrast to the citizens of Israel, there has been no toxic language leveled against them by this Administration. Sometimes the people miss the truth even though it’s there to be found.
PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS NEVER DENIGRATED JEWS
I can’t speak for before his Presidency but President Trump has consistently taken actions favorable to Israel. In fact Nikki Haley, U.N. Ambassador, has taken strong steps at defending Israel on the world stage.
His language toward the Jewish nation and Jews in general have been kind not harsh. In fact, in Israel he is highly regarded. Yet a retired college professor lays the blame at his feet! Others claim he is Anti-Semitic.
PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS MOVED OUR COUNTRY CLOSER TO ISRAEL
Speaking of Trump and Israel let’s take a closer look:

  • He moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem against worldwide condemnation (which is rooted in Anti-Semitism)
  • Sided with Israel against Iran
  • Canceled the treaty with Iran

These are just a few of the things he’s done within his first two years in office.
BAD LANGUAGE/ACTIONS DID NOT ORIGINATE WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP
The charge is consistently made that Trump originated the anger in this country. That is not only bad history it’s simply untrue. I’ve been watching the “divide” in America for decades. Both sides have contributed to the anger long before Trump ever thought of running for President.
But there is strong evidence that the current vitriolic language began on the night Hillary Clinton lost the election. The Democrats have never gotten over it. This is stunning! We’ve all seen people get upset before over lost elections, but never to this degree. Here we are closing in on two years of his Presidency and they are still angry, petulant.
It is true that during Obama’s Presidency he was accused of not being American born. But this never rose to the extent of the charges and anger being directed against Trump. By the way, that charge against Obama was started by the Clinton campaign or so documentation indicates.
WE LIVE IN A SAD DAY
When I was young I could discuss politics with friends, neighbors, and others. We would sometimes disagree, but it was kept calm, dignified. I simply felt they had a right to disagree and a right to be wrong; I’m sure they felt the same about me. But no one ever called me names, threatened me, or in any way disparaged me unless you include being called stupid. That was as strong as it ever got.
Now if you have a Trump sticker on your car you might be risking your car or your life or both. That is a sad day. And what makes it even sadder is that Trump is proving to be an excellent President in spite of the hate, anger, and news media bias. History will show him to be one of our better Presidents, maybe even great.
Sometimes people miss it! They become so wrapped up in their own hatred that they miss a good man. Some Jews are so liberal that they are willing to vilify a man who is a friend of Israel, which one would have thought important to them.
SPEAKING AS A CHRISTIAN
I don’t know President Trump’s relationship with Jesus Christ. But I do know that he is pro-Israel! As a Christian that is important to me. The Jewish people have not ceased from being God’s chosen people. Right now they are living in the times of the Gentiles as shown in the Bible, but their day will come again. When the Son of God returns He will look favorably upon countries that befriend Israel. President Trump has chosen the right path to follow.

Trump’s Diplomacy

Today’s Issue: Trump’s Diplomacy
Monday’s I try to focus on issues. This week I am taking a look at Trump’s Diplomacy.
You can hardly watch a newscast or read a newspaper without getting negative coverage of President Trump’s diplomatic endeavors. According to them there is no plan, that he simply shoots from the hip without thought. But let’s take a look at some of his diplomatic efforts during his presidency.

  1. He berated, threatened the EU about the fact they weren’t carrying their fair cost of supporting NATO. He was roundly chastised by the media and by politicians, including members of his own party. Result: EU countries agreed to increase their support with the goal of 2% of their GDP.
  2. He berated, threatened EU this year insisting they not only meet their 2% goal but seek to achieve a more equitable 4%. He was roundly criticized by the media and politicians, including some Republicans, for causing a break with our allies. Result: Some EU members have agreed to raise their goal to 4% of GDP while others are considering it.
  3. He threatened and even instigated first moves toward a trade war because of the uneven playing field American businesses faced. He was roundly rebuked by media and politicians, some from his own party, for starting a trade war that would hurt Americans. Result: The President of EU came to America and essentially caved with a proposed agreement that extends Common Market (ancestor of EU) zero tariffs on everything except autos (and that may come soon).
  4. He met with Putin in Helsinki amidst rancor and bitterness. The unproven charges of interference with the U.S. election was the media’s main focus. They rebuked Trump, along with politicians from both parties, for seeming to accept Putin’s denial. Whether the Russians did or not is irrelevant. They would have done so on behalf of Hillary not Trump. Result: Trump and Putin met and dialed back the teetering relations between the two countries. Possible more meetings in the future.
  5. He met with and played hardball with the Chinese. Alarm spread throughout the media and was expressed by politicians, including Republicans, that he was starting a trade war with China. Result: This is ongoing, but consider that a trade war would hurt China more than the United States.

Donald Trump is a hardnosed negotiator with perhaps a streak of a gambler. He sizes up his opponent, attacks demanding more than he expects to achieve and then gets what he really wants. I’ve never read his book The Art of the Deal, but I wouldn’t be surprised if such a strategy was explained. Of course, sizing up your opponent requires information and the ability to process that information intuitively, an ability President Trump has shown.
His underlying theme during the campaign was “America First” and that still is his theme, to make America Great Again by putting America First! Which liberals don’t really want and they don’t really understand. They especially don’t understand his strategy to achieve his promises. In fact, they don’t understand the idea of a politician actually keeping his promises.
Which brings up a rather funny thing. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read the Letters to the Editor claiming he broke another promise. And every time he either never made the promise he supposedly failed to keep or he tried to keep a promise that was blocked by Congress (think Democrats and a few recalcitrant Republicans). Of course Democrats have embarked on a suicide course because they don’t understand how Clinton lost the election. The truth is they backed a loser. (By the way, latest report is that Trump won both electoral and popular votes.)
I’m convinced that the liberal establishment so hates Trump, perhaps because he doesn’t play by their rules, that they purposely don’t even try to understand him. They don’t understand his populism and like I said are still upset over the election.
But one thing is clear: whether his methods and strategies are understood or not, President Trump’s diplomacy works!
