Sometimes People Miss It

FeaturedSometimes People Miss It

Monday through Friday I deal with different subjects in this blog. I also post my blog to my Facebook page at RFrederickRiddlesWorld. Monday’s I try to focus on issues. This week I am taking a look at Sometimes People Miss It.
Normally I write Insights on Tuesdays, but today I’m tackling another subject. I opened my newspaper today and began reading about Trump’s planned visit to Pittsburgh which is the site of the horrendous massacre. In the very beginning of the article I read this:
“… some members of the Jewish community and others objected to President Donald Trump’s plans to visit, accusing him of contributing to a toxic political climate in the U.S. that might have led to the bloodshed.
“… Some Pittsburghers urged Trump to stay away. “His language has encouraged hatred and fear of immigrants, which is part of the reason why these people were killed.”
REALLY?
If I was a betting man (I’m not) I would bet that 100% of the Jews in Pittsburgh are either LEGAL immigrants or descendants of LEGAL immigrants! I have neither read nor heard of any problem that anyone in government has with Jewish Immigration or any legal immigration.
Although for some strange reason U.S. Jews tend to be liberal, in contrast to the citizens of Israel, there has been no toxic language leveled against them by this Administration. Sometimes the people miss the truth even though it’s there to be found.
PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS NEVER DENIGRATED JEWS
I can’t speak for before his Presidency but President Trump has consistently taken actions favorable to Israel. In fact Nikki Haley, U.N. Ambassador, has taken strong steps at defending Israel on the world stage.
His language toward the Jewish nation and Jews in general have been kind not harsh. In fact, in Israel he is highly regarded. Yet a retired college professor lays the blame at his feet! Others claim he is Anti-Semitic.
PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS MOVED OUR COUNTRY CLOSER TO ISRAEL
Speaking of Trump and Israel let’s take a closer look:

  • He moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem against worldwide condemnation (which is rooted in Anti-Semitism)
  • Sided with Israel against Iran
  • Canceled the treaty with Iran

These are just a few of the things he’s done within his first two years in office.
BAD LANGUAGE/ACTIONS DID NOT ORIGINATE WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP
The charge is consistently made that Trump originated the anger in this country. That is not only bad history it’s simply untrue. I’ve been watching the “divide” in America for decades. Both sides have contributed to the anger long before Trump ever thought of running for President.
But there is strong evidence that the current vitriolic language began on the night Hillary Clinton lost the election. The Democrats have never gotten over it. This is stunning! We’ve all seen people get upset before over lost elections, but never to this degree. Here we are closing in on two years of his Presidency and they are still angry, petulant.
It is true that during Obama’s Presidency he was accused of not being American born. But this never rose to the extent of the charges and anger being directed against Trump. By the way, that charge against Obama was started by the Clinton campaign or so documentation indicates.
WE LIVE IN A SAD DAY
When I was young I could discuss politics with friends, neighbors, and others. We would sometimes disagree, but it was kept calm, dignified. I simply felt they had a right to disagree and a right to be wrong; I’m sure they felt the same about me. But no one ever called me names, threatened me, or in any way disparaged me unless you include being called stupid. That was as strong as it ever got.
Now if you have a Trump sticker on your car you might be risking your car or your life or both. That is a sad day. And what makes it even sadder is that Trump is proving to be an excellent President in spite of the hate, anger, and news media bias. History will show him to be one of our better Presidents, maybe even great.
Sometimes people miss it! They become so wrapped up in their own hatred that they miss a good man. Some Jews are so liberal that they are willing to vilify a man who is a friend of Israel, which one would have thought important to them.
SPEAKING AS A CHRISTIAN
I don’t know President Trump’s relationship with Jesus Christ. But I do know that he is pro-Israel! As a Christian that is important to me. The Jewish people have not ceased from being God’s chosen people. Right now they are living in the times of the Gentiles as shown in the Bible, but their day will come again. When the Son of God returns He will look favorably upon countries that befriend Israel. President Trump has chosen the right path to follow.

Immigration Compromise

Immigration Compromise

Today’s Issue: Immigration Compromise

Monday’s I try to focus on issues. Today we are taking a look at the GOP House bill that represents a compromise on immigration. To be honest, the details of this compromise have not been fully revealed or explained at the writing of this blog. However, I am a man who hearkens back to the days when conservatives and liberals could get together, be civil, and come up with a workable compromise.

Is this compromise one that is workable?

Because we don’t know all the details, we can only make guesses. On the surface at least it appears workable. To continue to not solve the problems of immigration and the so-called Dreamers is like two or more doctors agreeing you have a serious infection in your leg. But because they cannot agree on your treatment they do nothing. So the infection gets worse with the passage of time and becomes cancerous ultimately leading to amputation or worse.

You say that would never happen. But it happens all too often! We elect men and women to serve us. Yes, we lean toward certain ideals. But over and above those ideals we expect our congressmen/women to actually do something!

So, at the moment, I think this compromise is a good starting point. I particularly like the shift from family to skills emphasis. The family emphasis used to work well, but no longer meets the needs of America. On the other hand getting people into our country who can contribute to it immediately or soon should be a sought after result.

I also think a compromise on the Dreamers is desirable. There are millions of people out there hanging in limbo because nothing has been done about them. Amnesty is sometimes treated as a dirty word. The argument goes like this, to allow amnesty for these Dreamers is like rewarding them for doing wrong. The problem is they are called Dreamers because they came with their parent(s). On the other hand, we need to put a stop to future Dreamers, otherwise parents will continue to bring their children across the border and create an unending burden on our economy.

So take care of the Dreamers now within our borders but stop future Dreamers. That seems like a compassionate and responsible compromise.

Will it pass?

These days you never know. But this is an election year and voters will be watching. And both democrats and republicans better be taking notice that the American people (at least a very large minority or possibly majority) have bought into Trump’s America First. And those politicians who continue to buck or defy the President could lose their jobs.

Every day the media continues to bash President Trump and every day President Trump gets high marks from the American people. I think many of those in power, including the media, fear Trump. Not that he’ll bring disaster to America as they suggest, but that he’ll truly drain the swamp of which they are a part.

Such people will try to stop the compromise. They will make righteous speeches, thunderous accusations against Trump and his administration, and vote against any bill that attempts to cross the divide. True patriotic politicians will seek a place where they can meet and find common ground. But the problem is do we have enough true patriots?
