Republicans Fight for Democracy

A New York Times reporter claimed the Republican Party is turning against Democracy. Among several problems with that statement there is at least one that we will examine.

First of all, it was a lie. Worse than that it is impossible. Let me explain.

Democracy is defined as, ‘a government by the people, especially: rule of the majority.’

When our country was founded, and our forefathers wrote the Constitution they purposely decided that Democracy as defined above was not the right way to go. Instead, they chose a radically new idea: Representative Democracy.

Now to be fair, the average liberal or Democrat probably thinks that Democracy and Representative Democracy are the same. They are not. In true or pure Democracy, the majority of the people rule. There are no representatives chosen to speak on their behalf. The people rule.

True Democracy is best found in a mob. There you have a large group of people and usually one or just a few people who control it. The mob decides issues by what appeals to them. Reason and debate generally are absent. One reason is mob rule usually means one thought or direction; dissent is not allowed.

Representative Democracy, which our founders wrote into the Constitution, is totally different. In the United States Constitution, we have a Legislative Branch consisting of a House of Representatives and a Senate. We also have the Executive Branch (President) and the Judicial Branch (Courts). These three branches form a Constitutional Representative Democracy sometimes called a Republic.

But for many years, actually decades, our schools, news media, and the Democratic Party have blurred the distinction. In some cases, this was simply ignorance (never having been taught otherwise), but more and more it has been willful.

Now that we live in a society under the control of the News Media, Social Media, and Liberal political forces, the blending has been largely successful. So, it is possible that the reader of this article believes that Democracy is what we have.

Why is that important?

It is important because believing in Democracy as the rule of law is believing in a Constitution as defined by Nancy Pelosi and friends. Not the written Constitution, such as I own a copy of, but a Constitution that is ever evolving according to the will of the people as led by them. Or, put succinctly, mob rule.

Now back to the article.

We now live in a society where words and phrases we grew up knowing are being turned on their respective heads. We no longer have men and women as defined by birth, but now we have people born of one sex and later deciding they are of the other sex. The Bible calls this immoral and confusion. And we are seeing this played out right before our eyes.

But that is not all. We call abortion a right and we deny any rights to the unborn. We call Socialism, which can be termed the government taking away our hard-earned money and property, moral. But hard work, loyalty, and doing your best are considered outdated.

Unfortunately, the News Media and the big Social Media giants encourage this change. And they don’t like dissent. Which brings us to the true nature of Democracy. Namely, that it is a dictatorship. I said earlier that Democracy is like a mob. But there is always a leader of a mob and the mob follows the leader without thinking. So-called thinkers of the mob repeat ad nauseum whatever the leader says.

This kind of thinking is apparent in the Letters to the Editors where liberal contributors repeat as fact what NBC, CBS, ABC, along with CNN and other networks say. Especially if it came from the DNC. It doesn’t matter if what is being said is the truth or not, what matters is that the agenda is being promoted.

Perhaps you have heard the term ‘pack the court.’ This term is speaking of the Supreme Court and means that you increase the number of justices until you have enough that agree with you. It makes the Supreme Court irrelevant. I believe this scares our so-called conservative justices and explains their inaction in the last election.

The Republican Party is not perfect. It isn’t even close to perfect. But it believes in the sanctity of life, morality as defined by the Bible, a strong work ethic, the resilience of the American people, the Middle Class, and the Constitution of our forefathers.

What does the Democratic Party believe?

It believes it is fine for a person born a male to decide he is a female and then compete in female sports, thus destroying women’s sports. (By the way, the argument that women can compete against men equally is unsupported by biology or history.)

The Democratic Party also believes that stealing is fine as long as it is for a good cause. They talk about ‘fair share’ when in fact they want the rich to pay not just more, which they already do, but at exorbitantly higher tax rates.

In conclusion, it is the Democratic Party that is undermining Representative Democracy. They are in fact, using the tools and power of Representative Democracy to destroy itself and then turn the country into a dictatorship of mob rule whereby they run things.

This is their vision of the great new world.

Liar, Liar

The Riddle Report 03 12 2021

Yesterday, 03 11 2021, President Joe Biden took to the airwaves for his first speech since taking office on January 20th. In his speech, he took full credit for the ongoing manufacturing and distribution of the vaccines. This is a lie.

But the speech was sort of a 50-day celebration I suppose. Prior to the speech he signed the latest Stimulus Package, which means money should be going out to deserving people this weekend. Although the package was passed without Republican support, the stimulus checks were supported by both parties.

So, he was celebrating the passage of a 1.9 Billion package that was loaded with pork.

News Item #1 “The Big Lie”

“A year ago, we were hit with a virus that was met with silence and spread unchecked.

“Denials for days, weeks, then months that led to more deaths, more infections, more stress, and more loneliness.”

That was his opening line and it was the big lie.

Instead of silence look at the following timeline:

  • January 3, 2020 – the United States offered to help China investigate the virus. Although later repeated, the offer was never really accepted.
  • January 6, 2020 – the CDC issued a Level I travel notice for Wuhan, China.
  • January 17, 2020 – CDC began screening 3 international airports.
  • January 20, 2020 – Dr. Fauci announced the NIH was already working on developing a vaccine.
  • January 31, 2020 – by the end of the month the administration had:
    • Issued a Level III travel ban (widely criticized by Biden and other liberals as being paranoia)
    • Organized White House Coronavirus Task Force
    • Declared a public health emergency
    • Announced Chinese travel restrictions
    • Suspended entry into the U.S. by foreign nationals at risk of transmitting the virus.

Does that sound like silence to you? Denials? The only denials came from Biden and company. Trump did deny statements and accusations by liberals, but he and his administration were already engaged.

News Item #2 “The Implied Lie”

“You lost your job. You closed your business. Facing eviction, homelessness, hunger, a loss of control, and maybe worst of all, a loss of hope.

“Watching a generation of children who may be set back up to a year or more – because they’ve not been in school – because of their loss of learning.”

Was any of that untrue? No!

But the implied lie that it was Trump’s fault is demonstrably false.

Most of the above statements happened in states that were near or were in total lockdown. Most of those states were run by Democrats who ordered the shutdowns. But most Republican run states did only partial shutdowns and began reopening as soon as possible.

A case in point is Florida where the Governor began reopening the state despite liberal protests and media condemnation. New York, which totally shutdown, led the nation in deaths, and just about every other category.

As for the schools, this happened in virtually all states, but again the Republican led states began working to reopen the schools as quickly as possible. It hasn’t always been pretty, but it has been largely successful except for one problem.

The Teachers union.

Despite assurances from CDC and the Dr. Fauci, teachers have been opposed to reopening the schools. The result has been a shortage of teachers and children being robbed of their education. And now, parents are actively pushing for the reopening.

News Item #3 “The Vaccine”

“When I took office 50 days ago, only 8 percent of Americans after months…”

Another implied lie: that nothing had been done toward vaccinating people by the Trump Administration. Let’s look at some more facts:

  • December 11, 2020 – Johnson and Johnson vaccine approved for use
  • December 18, 2020 – Moderna’s vaccine approved
  • January 20, 2021 – Trump’s last day in office; 1.5 million vaccinated
  • March 11, 2021 – 1st 50 days of Biden Administration; 1.4 million vaccinated.

Do the math: Trump administration vaccinated 1.5 million people between 12/11/2020 and 01/20/2021 for approximately 27 days; Biden administration vaccinated 1.4 million people between 01/20/2021 and 03/11/2021. Or put another way, the Trump administration vaccinated 100,000 more people in 23 less days.

Lest I forget, the Trump administration partnered with Johnson and Johnson to increase capacity to manufacture more vaccine and in record time. Translate the word ‘capacity’ to build a factory and you get the kind of commitment made.

News Item #4 “What it Could Have Been”

It would have been a great time for President Biden to show his commitment to unity. All he had to do was acknowledge what the Trump administration had done and congratulate or thank them. Then he could have bragged about how he was continuing the work. Instead, he tried to take all the credit.

News Item #5 “the 25th “Getting the Truth”

If you want the truth, you have to get out there and find it. It isn’t really hard, but your local paper isn’t going to tell you, nor is your television. And you can’t trust the social media. Facebook, YouTube, and others only want you to talk about their agenda. Your traditional sources of information are no longer reliable.

But the good news is that there are newer resources such as Rumble, MeWe, DuckDuck, and others. Find out what works for you. But in the end, it is your responsibility to find the truth.

Riddle News: The Problem With Science

11 12 2020

Welcome to Riddle News.

Joe Biden has said that if he is elected, he will on the first day of his Presidency follow science and shutdown the economy; completely. Dr. Michael Osterholm, an advisor to Biden, says that a total shutdown of four to six weeks would bring the cases down to manageable levels. In the same breath he says that the government could borrow the money to pay for lost wages for individuals, for losses to small companies, to medium-sized companies, or city, state, or county governments.

Let’s forget for the moment that the death rate is still down around 2.30%. Let’s also forget that this is happening although the latest surge has been longer than a couple of weeks. In addition, let’s forget that the economy while still down is recovering and unemployment rate is down. Then there is the fact that a vaccine is already in the approval process and probably will be available for First Responders this year and the general public possibly before Biden takes office (if elected).

Let’s forget all that and focus on the merits or lack thereof of Dr. Osterholm’s theory.

Shutting Down Businesses

Shutting down businesses and paying people for lost wages for four to six weeks could help keep the coronavirus pandemic in check and get the economy on track until a vaccine is approved and distributed.

All of this is based on his understanding of science.

The problem with Science

The problem with elevating science to the dominating position that many people, including Biden/Harris, have done is that science is not absolute. It is constantly changing. Usually that change is for the better and we have a better life than our parents and grandparents because of science. But science is sometimes wrong.

History is covered with scientific wrong thinking:

George Washington, after retiring from the Presidency, got sick. The science of the day preached bloodletting. That is the practice of surgically removing blood from the patient because they thought that would heal him. But instead it weakened him, and he died.

They followed science, but science was wrong.

Abortion. There was a time when science said that life doesn’t begin until after a baby is born. Thus, it was alright to abort. And now we have an abortion industry and politicians who want to expand it. But science was wrong. Today science believes that life begins at fertilization. (There are arguments about when this takes place, but they generally agree that human life begins at or shortly after fertilization.)

Unfortunately, abortionists still operate on the notion that life doesn’t begin until ‘birth’. This old science was wrong.

Covid-19. Dr. Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has been shifting his stance ever since the virus came to America. But we shouldn’t blame him, blame science. In the first quarter of 2020 science pointed to a quick solution and recovery and he followed science and passed his views to President Trump. But the science was wrong.

Now science says that a vaccine is imminent. It is already being tested and distribution is being set up. There are other vaccines also nearing availability. Where once science said vaccines were up to 2 years away, now it is only weeks and months away.

The truth is that science has been changing. As new studies occur, and the results are learned science has had to adjust. What they thought they knew in January and what they think they know now are worlds apart.

But while science has adjusted, the liberal media and liberals in general stuck with the worst-case scenario that they created. Thus, the criticism of the Trump Administration.

Trump Administration. At this time, we don’t know who won the election (all media claims aside), but we do know that the administration followed science, at least at first. Advised by Dr. Fauci and others, the administration banned flights to and from China, then later from Europe and Britain. Here the science appears to have been correct as far as hindering the spread of the virus.

But it soon became apparent that science was having to adjust to the changing profile of the virus. Suddenly science had to develop new tools and strategies. And both were untested. The Trump Administration was faced with fully trusting theories put forth as facts or charting a course that incorporated the theories mixed with commonsense solutions.

I believe the Administration took the correct route and pulled back from full belief in science. Working with governors to shut down the nation saved approximately 2 million lives and reopening the nation saved our economy. The President was constantly juggling decisions based on input from both the changing medical science and from the changing business climate. These were difficult decisions, but the choices worked.

Has Trump’s Handling of Virus Been Good?

Yes, definitely! Although cases are still happening and people are still dying, the death rate has plunged and is still down. Plus, the economy is picking up and promises to be stronger in the fourth quarter and in January (although there are naysayers). Operation Warp Speed has brought hope to millions of people with the announcements regarding potential vaccines.

Assuming President Trump is re-elected (an increasing probability) then we can expect the virus to be brought under control, vaccine distribution to the general public, and a rebounding economy. It is not so rosy if Joe Biden or as I say Biden/Harris is elected. Shutting down the economy a second time would be devastating.

Especially since they are talking total shutdown. Talking about borrowing money to take care of lost wages and revenue ignores the fact that the House of Representatives has an agenda to help out Democratic states that were already in financial trouble prior to Covid-19. Our economy would be crippled trying to take care of them plus take care of Covid-19 issues. Businesses would close, some permanently, and people would go back to unemployment status. And does Dr. Osterholm really believe that the turnaround would only take 4 to 6 weeks?

I think somebody’s science is wrong.

If Trump Wins Then What?

As mentioned earlier there is at least one vaccine on warp speed. Already the National Guards throughout the nation are being prepared to distribute the vaccine first to First Responders and then to the public. By January 20th, the virus may be under control and our economy revving up.

We have had the right man at the helm during this crisis. I am praying that the recounts and court cases will give us 4 more years of Donald Trump.

As for science, it should never be considered the absolute authority. It is an important resource, but we need men and women who can lead even if it means turning aside from science.

Riddle News: House Tightens

11 06 2020

Welcome to Riddle News which is published every Monday and Friday. This is a Special review of the 2020 election.

Pelosi announced Democrats kept House

But of greater importance is that Republicans gained seats. Some thoughts on the matter.

Democratic Edge

Because they kept the House the Democrats will be in control. That is important to remember. They will be able to pass legislation they want and obstruct the Trump Administration (assuming Trump is re-elected).

What it promises is more of the Democratic antics.

Pro-Life Women

At last count, the pro-life women in Congress doubled. There were 11 and now another 13 have been added to them. And it is possible that more may be added.

This sends a signal to the Democrats that their abortion rights agenda might be in trouble. If these 24 or more women can unite with male counterparts, they might have a voice that demands to be heard!

And if they are heard they might be able to restrict or possibly stop further abortion rights legislation. That would be a plus for every unborn baby out there!

A Stronger GOP Minority

It looks like the GOP had a net gain in the House. This gives them a stronger voice. It also shows the Democrats that their strategy backfired.

Overconfidence

They so believed their own messaging that they didn’t do much of a ground game. The Republicans got out and went door to door. For the most part, the Democrats leaned heavily on the news media and Social Networking.

Bad Message

From reports I’ve been reading the Democratic message was all about social justice and the New Green Deal. The American people largely rejected this message resulting in tight races and the flipping of several states.

The Democratic Party is now identified as the party of leftist nut cases. So-called democratic socialism morphed into socialism (which it really was all the time). Peaceful demonstrations that turned into riots and the Defund the Police movement alarmed Americans. It didn’t help matters that the rioting and the Defund Police were taking place in Democratic run states. It painted a sorry picture of Democratic rule.

Another aspect of their message is the fact that the American people recognized that President Trump did what Obama and Biden couldn’t do. They gave us an economy that by far the best in a long time. The fake claim that Biden gave us a good economy (it wasn’t; the economy was struggling along on low paying jobs) was obvious to a lot of Americans. And polls showed that Americans understood that.

Another message failure was childish actions of House and Senate Democrats. (Votes are still being counted but it looks like the Republicans held their own). Unfortunately, if President Trump is re-elected you can expect more childish actions from the Democrats.

And let’s not forget the impeachment travesty. I think this hurt House Democrats deeply and probably played into the thinking of the public.

Pelosi

Pelosi is loved by her constituents, but one has to wonder about her leadership. The above mentioned reasons for GOP gains are at least partly her fault. It is obvious that she is strong enough to keep her job, but it is also obvious that her leadership or lack thereof cost the Democrats significantly.

She just can’t keep her mouth shut. But it is not just that. People see her as an obstacle. As the election neared and Trump was pushing for an agreement that would have benefitted both parties, she got greedy. She wanted things that had nothing at all to do with Covid-19. So, she held up the legislation. Whether you think another stimulus bill is necessary or not, it can’t be denied that her actions stopped help from coming. And every time she opened her mouth, she clarified the issue in people’s minds.

While the Democrats blame Trump for their losses, but the truth is that Nancy Pelosi weakened her House and is the one person most responsible.

What about Fraud?

In the Congressional races I haven’t really heard much about fraud. However, it stands to reason that fraudulent ballots would affect more than the Presidential races. They would affect every office on the ballot.

The media continues to ignore the problem, but it is real and it is widespread. It looks like the state legislatures will have to get involved. If you read the article about the Constitution and state legislatures you have a strong hope. And then there are the state and federal courts.

It is going to get messy, but we must protect our right to vote and the constitution.

Riddle News: Certified?

11 05 2020

Welcome to Riddle News which is published every Monday and Friday. This is a Special review of the 2020 election.

Claim: Election goes to Pelosi controlled House within days of election.

As with anything there are always facts that have to be dealt with. The next step in the election is quite often called certification. Votes need to be verified and counted. Let’s take a closer look.

State certification.

Each state has their own laws and state constitutional requirements. These can vary from as couple days after the election to weeks and even into December. During this time all the ballots will be counted and verified. Verification usually means checking the postmark (if a mail-in), proper signature, proper marking of ballot, and eligibility (i.e., is the person a registered voter in the particular state).

However, legal challenges can impact the process. And it is safe to say there will be legal challenges. I believe some have already been filed.

Because of Covid-19 the process is further messed up. Some states mailed out ballots to people irrespective of whether they asked for one or not. This raises serious mail fraud questions that will likely have to be settled in court.

But the counting of ballots is not the whole story.

Electoral College

Contrary to liberal thought, the President is not elected by popular vote. Within a state, yes. But each state has Electoral College electors. The number of electors differs by state and often are chosen by the parties. The winning party’s list of electors would then be chosen.

These electors then meet and vote for the President. In theory they vote according to the popular vote count, but it is possible to vote for someone else. The U.S. constitution does not require electors to vote according to their state’s popular vote. On the other hand, some state’s have laws binding the elector’s to vote as they ‘pledged’. (Pledged simply means if they are part of the Republican electoral list they will vote for the Republican, and if on the Democratic list they will vote for the Democrat.)

NARA

NARA (National Archives and Records Administration) is an independent government agency responsible for preserving historical records. In a national election they are also responsible for transmitting the electors (Electoral College) votes to Congress where they will be counted. Electors cast their votes on December 14, while Congress counts the votes and declares a winner on January 6th.

Congress

On January 6th Congress will convene and the votes will be counted state by state. In the end there will be a final tally and the President will be announced. There is the possibility of a tie, but I am not going into that.

Lawsuits

This is a long drawn out process. And because of lawsuits it will be more drawn out. But when you have evidence indicating voter fraud (and it certainly appears so) then the legal challenges must go forward.

Elections are serious business and when an individual, a group of individuals, or a party attempts to ensure their candidates election by suppressing votes or adding votes it requires a legal investigation.

Are There Instances of Voter Fraud?

Don’t expect an honest answer from the media. But, yes, there have been reports of improper actions to suppress or alter votes. One such accusation involved certified vote watchers being denied the ability to watch the count in disregard to a court order. I wasn’t there and didn’t see it, but such accusations deserve to be explored by a legal authority (i.e., court).

Also, the practice of some states to send out ballots to all people living within their states, regardless of whether they were citizens or not, or registered voters is reprehensible and needs to be investigated.

Supreme Court

Yes, it is possible this will go to the Supreme Court. In fact, I will go so far as to say it is likely. Assuming we now have a court that esteems the Constitution, then I welcome it.

Supreme Court News

09 21 2020

Welcome to The News which is published every Monday and Friday.

What’s all this noise about the Supreme Court?

With the death off Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg a major shift is in the wind for the Supreme Court. Because of this the Left and Right are squaring off. For the Democrats it represents what might be a distant prospect of changing the judicial landscape solidly to the Left. For the Republicans it represents the opportunity to finally shift the court to the right where the Constitution and rule of law outweigh social experimentation.

The current battle is whether a justice should be nominated by President Trump or by the next president (Trump or Biden).

Who’s Right?

That depends on your worldview. If you are on the left and are hoping Biden wins then you want to delay the nomination until Biden is in office. If you are on the Right, you want the nomination now for at least two reasons.

The first reason is that if the election is close, like some prognosticators think, then it could be decided by the court. In that scenario you need a full Supreme Court bench. Otherwise, you get a real mess.

The second reason is that the court would be returned to its original status, namely, a court ruled by the Constitution. Not the modernized constitution of the Liberals but the Constitution that is the foundation of American.

What Happens if Trump’s Nominee Fails to Win in Senate?

Not much. It only delays it if Trump is re-elected. I believe he will be re-elected, but if not, then Biden would have the choice.

Doesn’t Trump trail in the Polls?

In some he still trails, but in polls based on “Likely” voters he is winning, and the margin has been increasing. There has been a shift toward Trump in the Battleground States and among the Hispanics and perhaps the Black communities.

Another factor to consider is the influence of the Internet. In the past the Democrats would use all manner of deception and confuse, even deceive, the American public. But things have changed. Americans of every age, color, and ethnicity are proficient with the Internet and know how to look up the facts. Many, if not most, understand that so-called “Fact Checkers” are unreliable and biased.

So, they look the information up and find out the truth.

So, what can we expect?

As far as the Supreme Court is concerned it is hard to tell. But despite House Speaker’s Pelosi’s claim she has something up her sleeve it is doubtful there is anything there. The real question is whether the Republicans will stand with the President. Time will tell.

As for the election, I think Trump benefits no matter which way the Senate goes. And I think he will be re-elected perhaps in a landslide.

Friday News & Commentary 08 07 20

Today’s Issue: Biden & Trump

Welcome to Friday News. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays I share tips while on Friday and Monday I report the news.

Biden vs. Trump Polling

We’re approaching the Democratic Convention and, as might be predicted, the media has Biden well ahead of President Trump in the polls. Are they right?

Good question. I’m not a fan of polls, but I do watch them. In my opinion the Rasmussen poll is the most accurate because it is the only poll that is based on Likely registered voters.

In it, Biden leads by single digits with a +/- 5%, essentially a tie. But it is way too early in the campaign. We will have a clearer picture after the conventions.

Why is Biden hiding in his basement?

It’s his strategy. And to some extent it is working at least as far as fundraising is concerned. But there is an old saying that ‘you can’t hide forever’. When the convention takes place, he is going to be saddled with an extreme left agenda which he will have to come out and explain.

He can’t expect his Vice-Presidential candidate to hold the water. He will have to speak up. That is problematic.

Is Trump in Trouble?

The media says yes, but a more realistic answer is probably no. With over 90% approval from Republicans and his poll numbers in other areas surging, he seems to be in a strong position. The worst of the virus and the riots seem to be past. The truth regarding the Trump Administration regarding Covid-19 or anything else lags behind the lies and innuendoes, but it will come out.

My own forthcoming book due out late August or early September details much of his administration’s history regarding Covid-19 and it is different from the news media’s view. I include daily reports, a monthly chart on death rate, and a comparison between the U.S. and World death rates.

Note: Death Rates are generally not reported by the media; they report deaths. But the death rate is the most important data.

Friday News : Impeachment & the Democrats

Welcome to Friday News. Every Friday I share news with you; primarily about writing and sometimes about life in general. This week it is about: Impeachment & the Democrats.

What’s the Future of Impeachment?

The short answer that whenever the trial begins it will be short and end in acquittal.

The long answer takes more room and time. I’ll give you my understanding.

The Democrats Made a Mistake

And it’s a big one. In 2016 Trump blew Hilary out of the water and the Democrats assumed foul play. It wasn’t true, but they hitched their future to that assumption and immediately there were calls for impeachment.

Along came the Steele Dossier. This piece of fiction, apparently funded by the Clinton campaign, was meant to be used in the election. I don’t believe they every thought it would be used in impeachment proceedings. They probably knew it was nothing but fiction, but they figured it would useful in undermining the Trump campaign. It was dirty politics with an unexpected consequence.

Surprisingly none of our liberal friends have called for an investigation into what eventually cost the American taxpayers millions, even billions of dollars. Maybe not so surprisingly since the people calling for Trump’s impeachment would not be interested in going after Hilary and her campaign.

This mistake looked like a blessing to the Democrats in Congress, especially the newly elected Representatives. It was vehicle that could possibly remove their arch enemy from office! Check the history out and you will find that Speaker Pelosi quickly realized that this was a mistake. For some reason, however, she hooked her boat to this sinking ship.

The Democrats Didn’t Get Off When They Could

The Mueller investigation provided them cover. After years of using bullying tactics and excessive taxpayer dollars, he came up with nothing. At that point Pelosi could have said something like, “We tried, but now it is time to move on.”

But she didn’t.

Instead, she let it hang around and the new, loudmouth Representatives grew more strident and, in my opinion, stronger. She started shifting her stance and moved closer probably trying to mollify them. It didn’t work. They got their hooks into her and didn’t let go.

The ship Impeachment was sinking, and she couldn’t keep it afloat. Using her power she forced the Articles of Impeachment even though they had no corroborating facts. What she called ‘facts’ amounted to hearsay and innuendo.

Then Capitulation

That’s what I call it. Although filled with misgivings, she caved. Her words changed from caution to tentative and finally to ‘Urgent’. Impeachment was urgent.

It reminds me of when Obamacare was passed in 2010, she famously said, “We [need] to pass the bill in order to find out what [is] in it.” The fact checkers admit she said it but add it must be viewed in her intentions. Then they show what the context was before and after. But they leave out a very important fact. Obamacare was not bipartisan, and the Democrats locked Republicans out of participating in discussions. That is the true context. At the time America was concerned about its contents and whether she intended her statement to be taken as we took them or not is immaterial. Basically people understood her as saying that the bill should be passed and then read. Apparently, Obama agreed, because it was shortly passed and he signed it.

Sounds a lot like her comments regarding Impeachment.

Now she was stuck. She’d stuck her neck out and couldn’t turn back. So the Articles of Impeachment were passed without a single Republican vote. The ship Impeachment was looking more and more like the Titanic!

Bucket Brigade

I wasn’t there but I imagine Pelosi waking up the next morning and crying out loud, “What have we done?”

Suddenly reality reappeared. She remembered earlier statements where she opposed impeachment. Facts hadn’t really changed; they were still hearsay. Fishing expeditions had failed. There was more not less innuendo and fabrication. What could she do?

Then a brilliant idea came. Just like in the past people used bucket brigades to throw water on a raging fire, she could ease off the pedal and call for a “fair trial.” So she leaped out of bed and joyfully went forward.

She gave a statement that basically said, “We need a fair trial where our facts can be fully explored. Otherwise, I won’t send the articles to the Senate.”

The problem is this. Imagine a prosecutor going before a judge and saying, “We believe the defendant is guilty, but we don’t have enough evidence to convict him. Order him to tell the court everything and to provide incriminating evidence.”

It won’t happen unless it’s a grand jury. Even then it might not happen.

Just like throwing a bucket of water on a raging fire won’t work unless you have a long line of buckets, so this argument goes out the window!

The Senate

The U.S. Constitution gives the Senate the sole power to conduct a trial. House Managers (prosecutors) have the duty to press the charges. Senate Managers represent the defendant. To call additional witnesses at this time requires at the very least an understanding of what evidence that witness will provide. ‘Hope for’ is not the same. The Democrats are simply going on a fishing expedition with no worm on their hook.

Furthermore, while the Speaker does not have to provide the articles in a timely fashion, the Senate is under no obligation to listen to the Speaker. The Speaker has no authority as to the construction, nature, or conduct of the trial.

My View.

Personally, I think the case should be thrown out! But that’s not likely to happen. Right now the Republicans hold the upper hand both in the Senate and in the nation. The Democrats have been caught with their pants down, are embarrassed, and are fearful. To do what I want could backfire.

But the Senate should not let the House dictate how the trial will go. In the House the investigation went forward despite opposition from the Republicans. It was clearly biased. In the Senate you currently have the Majority Leader and the Minority Leader meeting and discussing the format. They haven’t agreed on anything as far as I know and now Schumer is forced to act on Pelosi’s demands. He’s been placed in a bad situation which has resulted in the meetings now going nowhere.

I don’t know what the final format will be, but the fact they are still talking is far better than what happened in the House. In the end, the decision rests with the Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

What’s a Fair Trial?

That’s easy. The accused gets to face his accusers and gets to present his side to a jury of his peers. I don’t believe that is what Pelosi means.

Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.’

Pelosi and the Democrats were forced by their own party members to conduct political suicide. If they had only stopped and read history, they would have seen what happened to the Republicans when they impeached Clinton.

Friday News : Pelosi and Fair Trial

Welcome to Friday News. Every Friday I share news with you; primarily about writing and sometimes about life in general. This week it is about: Pelosi and Fair Trial.

I was planning on writing about Christmas. And I do wish all my readers a wonderful and merry Christmas. Remember, it’s about Christ coming to Earth in the form of a baby with the purpose of dying for your sins! What a wonderful Savior!

Is Pelosi serious?

That question is in relation to her new demand that the Senate get her approval before she’ll send the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate. Now, President Trump responded by demanding a speedy trial. And that is his right. But the Senate is not under any obligation to seek the House’s approval.

The truth is that Pelosi is trying to protect herself and her fellow Democrats. They impeached the President to gratify their political core. But with no evidence to present other than hearsay, speculation, and unfounded accusations, they know that it will fail in the Senate.

In almost every article I’ve read from the Democratic view they “assume” that certain accusations are true. But assumptions are not facts and therefore not admissible in a court of law. The entire whistleblower effort would never be allowed in a court of law because it was not something witnessed by the so-called whistleblower but was hearsay.

In fact, the very accusations are based on liberal interpretations of the Constitution. The Constitution emphasizes High Crimes and Misdemeanors. Even if the President did what they said he did, it would not rise to the level of “high”. Our founding fathers used that word on purpose to prevent political attacks. Unfortunately, modern politicians believe they can reinterpret the Constitution to fit their needs.

The Real Problem is 2016.

Donald Trump was elected by the people of the United States receiving a clear majority of Electoral votes. But the liberals (i.e., Democrats) couldn’t accept that and immediately set out to impeach him before he ever took office. They seized upon the Russian Collusion charge that was fabricated by the Steele document that was paid for by the Hillary Campaign. Don’t have time to prove that here, but it’s been well documented.

That led to the Mueller Report which shot down the collusion charge. But the Democrats were not to be put off that easily. They went from being Mueller’s best friend to his biggest foe simply because he gave an honest report and not the one they were looking for.

Then came the Whistleblower.

Unfortunately this whole whistleblower fiasco has damaged the whistleblower protections. In a rather suspicious manner the FBI altered the requirements of the whistleblower program to allow hearsay evidence. This was closely followed by the whistleblower complaint. The recent report by the Inspector General glossed over this behavior, but it should be looked at seriously.

House Impeachment Proceedings.

I almost feel sorry for Speaker of the House Pelosi. She’s fighting for her job. It is obvious from previous statements by her that she didn’t want to go this route. Her hand was forced by a loud, determined minority of Democrats who hated Trump from the beginning.

But while that may be true, the Speaker had the power to stop it. She could have interceded and made sure the House proceedings were fair, just, and followed judicial practice. She didn’t. The whole investigation has been tainted by not allowing the President to face his accuser. He couldn’t even send his lawyers!

Technically speaking, the investigation wasn’t a trial. In fact, it appeared more like a Grand Jury where the prosecution has the power and the defense nothing. (In all honesty, I am not a fan of grand juries for that reason although they may have some value.) The American people deserved better!

Meanwhile.

Complicating the picture for the Democrats is the well documented fact that President Trump has been the catalyst for a booming economy, a bullish stock market, improved relations abroad, and much more. President Obama claims his actions brought on the economic boom, but the only thing he can really claim is that it started under his watch – the day after the election. I’ve commented on this in the past.

What Does the Speaker Mean by a Fair Trial?

Not what you and I would mean. Nor is it something any prosecutor would dare demand of a court of law.

Rather, she wants assurances that their “evidence” will be received and believed. She wants the House (prosecutors) to have the same upper hand they’ve had to date. It appears she wants to protect the so-called whistleblower and any other unnamed witnesses from being cross-examined.

In the House the investigation went forward in spite of opposition from the Republicans. It was clearly biased. In the Senate you currently have the Majority Leader and the Minority Leader meeting and discussing the format. I don’t know what the final format will be, but the fact they are talking is far better than what happened in the House. In the end, the decision rests with the Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

That’s easy. The accused gets to face his accusers and gets to present his side to a jury of his peers. I don’t believe that is what Pelosi means.

2020 Candidates & Issues

Every week I deal with different subjects in this blog. I also post my blog to my Facebook page at RFrederickRiddlesWorld. This week I am taking a look at2020 Candidates & Issues.

I am proud to announce that I have published my latest book. This non-fiction book is titled 2020 Candidates & Issues. The print version is available now at https://amzn.to/2ZozmYw. In a matter of days, the Ebook version will be available.

I have spent a lot of time working on this book. One reason is the sheer number of candidates. Second is the amount of research I had to do to gather their biographies and their career highlights. Even harder was learning where they stand on important issues.

To help you understand I’ve included a page from the book:

Note from the author . . .

I’m a relic.

That’s right. I grew up when Democrats and Republicans had civil disagreements that could be discussed without personal attacks or disparagement.

I believe the current state of uncivil discussion is not healthy for our nation we love. Whether you believe it started with the Democrats during Reagan’s Presidency (as I do) or with the Republicans under President George Bush (as Democrats seem to) it affects both parties and endangers the American Representative Democracy that has served us so well.

(Quick quiz: When were we a democracy and how long did it last?

Answer: We have never been a democracy. See Chapter Thirty-One.)

We are now approaching the 2020 election with stark contrasts between Democrats and Republicans. It comes at a time when America has moved further to the right.

Which way will America turn next? This book seeks to inform you about each candidate that is running. The author is himself a conservative, but I’ve tried to present a balanced picture concerning each candidate.

I’ve also included my own analysis plus Author Notes which admittedly comes from a conservative position. But I’ve drawn information from other sources to be as honest and forthright as possible.

But it remains every American citizen’s responsibility to determine the man or woman we want to lead this nation for the next four years. It’s not only important for us but for our children, grandchildren, and the world.

R. Frederick Riddle

That explains why I wrote the book. But that only touches on the peripheral. The truth is that this book is more than just an introduction to the candidates. Their ideas need to be examined in the light of American and world history. Their words seek to define America by the slavery that once existed, but that doesn’t come close to defining us. You the reader, and potential voter, need to first understand them and then understand America.

Unfortunately, America has been in the hands of the far left for so long that we are in danger of accepting their definitions and, ultimately, their solutions. As a counterbalance I have also included President Trump who is a legitimate candidate. His accomplishments are so many that I had to trim them down. It would have been easy to write one book just on him.

It is true that this election will be a landmark for our nation. It could well determine the direction this country goes in the next 100 years! If you compare the Presidency of Barack Obama and the Presidency of Donald Trump, you get a clearer picture. I only briefly touch on this in the book, but the comparison is remarkable!

Eight years under Obama saw the “end of the recession”. I say that with tongue in cheek. The economists will tell you it ended about 2009. Did you notice the end? Probably not. They based their opinion on data, not on people. Unemployment dipped to single digits primarily because people gave up looking for jobs. Whenever the unemployment figures were given, we often heard that the real figure was in the teens.

Men and women, some with degrees, lost their highly skilled jobs and worked in the fast food industry and other low-paying jobs, and still others lost much more. But the economists were more interested in their own numbers.

Based on observation rather than sheer numbers, I believe the recession ended after Trump took office. Now we have true unemployment in the low single digits! This is just one area of difference.

But we now have men and women telling us that America is a horrible place to live. We had Obama tell us to get used to no industrial jobs. Others are using the race card to promote their own political fortunes.

As a conservative, I have tried to be fair as I’ve discussed each candidate. I’ve even identified in a few cases ideas that I considered interesting. One such idea is making Election Day a national holiday. This has merit. I’d like to hear more about it. That is why I listed their stands on the issues. Issues are greater than the candidates. Sometimes we need to look at the issue itself and forget who promoted it.

I also addressed other topics that are related in some degree to the election. These topics include The Green New Deal, Immigration, the Squad, Sanctuary Cities, and more. They represent my view and you are entitled to agree or disagree. But one thing is for sure, these topics need to be examined calmly as we consider our country’s future.
