Insights: World of Noah and the Ark
“And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
“A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.” (Excerpt from World of Noah and the Ark)
God usually calls people to serve him one by one. The excerpt above concerns God’s call upon Noah to build an Ark (ship). God didn’t appear to Noah’s wife, his sons weren’t born yet, and his grandfather Methuselah wasn’t with him. The call came exclusively to Noah.
Yet all these people were impacted by God’s call on Noah. I think that Methuselah had some later involvement. The Bible is silent, yet it states that the Flood came in the same year Methuselah died (not in the flood, but before the flood).
So it is possible that God’s call on Noah impacted:

  • Noah
  • Noah’s wife
  • Japheth
  • Japheth’s wife
  • Shem
  • Shem’s wife
  • Ham
  • Ham’s wife
  • Methuselah

But it is likely that many more were directly affected. Noah was a farmer not a shipbuilder. Although shipbuilding probably existed (Bible never says otherwise), there was nothing on the scale of the Ark before and it wasn’t until probably the 19th century that anything else was built. In other words, this was a big job requiring someone who could read and understand a blueprint (basically what God gave Noah) and men who would actually build it.
If I am correct then it is another tragic part of Noah’s story. Because none of these men got saved unless they died before the Flood (a possibility). But most died unsaved though they worked on the ship itself.
My point in all of this is that God’s call is often to one person but the impact is upon a lot of people. Has God called you to a ministry? If so it is likely the decisions you make in following that call will impact a great many others.
It’s not just you!

“The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”
God communicated His intentions to Noah and sent Noah out to preach the coming judgment upon mankind and indeed the world. But the world didn’t listen. They went on their way singing, dancing, living immoral lives, and laughing at Noah and those who followed him. But God had the last laugh.
Not that He was laughing. He had warned them and caused Noah to build a ship so designed that hundreds of people could have been saved. But only 8 people were saved! He had warned them and provided a refuge but they spit in His face.
But we’re no better!
God still warns us. Not of a coming judgment of water but of a coming judgment of fire and pestilence. But we are no better than our ancestors. Today to believe in the Bible is to be increasingly mocked. So-called smart people laugh at the Bible, mock it, and generally mock God. They ask:

  • Where is God?
  • Where are His miracles?
  • When is His judgment?
  • Where are the preachers of righteousness?

They go about not only mocking God and His Word but mocking Christians. Then there are those who invade our churches to change doctrine. I know of a pastor who once held to the fundamental truth of the imminent return of Christ also called the Rapture. Now he’s departed from that fundamental truth yet still wants to be called fundamental. That’s a story for another time, but my point here is despite God’s repeated warnings we play fast and loose with His Word, we ignore His warnings, and we go on our merry way.
I’m not talking about our proclivity to sin, although that is certainly a major problem. The truth is that this world has rejected God. Nowadays people call that which is evil, good and that which is good, evil. The Bible condemns homosexuality but our world embraces it and its offspring: Lesbianism, same sex marriage, gender identity. etc.

  • Instead of the absolutes of God’s Word we now have the end justifies the means;
  • Instead of the sanctity of life we have abortion;
  • Instead of strong families we have the breakdown of the family and the rise of homosexuality.

Folks, we all need revival; we need Christ; we need the Word of God!

Insights: World of Noah and the Ark

“The Flood is a myth;” “The Ark could never float;” and “There’s no evidence of a worldwide flood.” You’ve probably heard these statements. But are they true?

Not when you take a hard look at history and science. According to evolutionary science our planet is billions of years old. This view teaches that the changes that have taken place have done so over billions of years. The problem is that even though evolutionists exercise great control over the scientific community these days they have not been able to provide legitimate evidence to support their theory.

Instead the weight of observable and researchable evidence supports a far more recent creation. Moreover they have not been able to provide a reasonable understanding of how we got worldwide stories (labeled myths) that tell of a worldwide flood. These stories have even been found where civilization had not previously been visited.

The real reason people reject the Ark and the Flood is fear; fear that they would have to acknowledge there is a God and that He holds them personally responsible for their actions. It is a fear that pushes them to the unreasonable and extreme positions they hold. The plight of the modern day evolutionists should break our hearts. It is like a man desperately holding onto the railing of the ship even as the ship slides beneath the waves.

Take a look at the opening remarks. Science has and is revealing that the Flood actually happened. Unless of course you believe that thousands of local floods could have occurred at the very same time around the world. Or unless you believe that people separated by water and distance could have all come up with similar stories of a worldwide Flood. Such miraculous events would require from us a very strong faith.

When I started writing about Noah, the Ark, and the Flood I believed the Biblical account but I had no other evidence. But, as with all my books, I researched the whole idea. And I have found that not only is there Biblical evidence but secular, architectural, and scientific evidence supporting the Flood. It is no wonder that more and more scientists are leaving the evolutionary theory and heading over to the creationist theory. These are people who have not fully rejected the existence of God and do truly desire to know the truth.

When writing the novel World of Noah and the Ark I did something I’d never done before. At the end of the book I included a Q&A section where sincere questions are asked and properly authenticated answers are given. It required a great deal of research, but I’m glad I did so.

Insights: World That Was

Insights: World That Was

This new feature is called Insights. It may concern a book within the series World That Was, (as today’s blog is), Christland, or any other series or book I’ve written or will write. I hope you find it interesting.

My very first book ever written was Refuge: The Genesis Chronicles. This book would later be incorporated into Perished: The World That Was. It was a look at the 120 years leading up to the Flood. Some people ignorantly speak of the Flood as a myth. But if they bothered to do research they would discover that it actually happened. I find it instructive how people can throw up challenges that prove to be rather easy to refute simply because they desperately want to disprove the existence of God.

Some people say there were local floods around the world at the time of what we call the Flood. But they don’t consider the difficulties such a belief faces. One simple problem is ‘the magnitude of so many Earth damaging local floods all happening about the same time in history.’ For a flood to cause the traumatic effects discovered through the study of fossils it would have to be huge. So the problem becomes even more difficult and can be stated as, ‘the magnitude of so many huge Earth damaging local floods all happening about the same time in history.’

In other words, for such a scenario to be believed requires huge faith. Greater faith than I have. Because it is a faith in ‘chance.’ It is a blind faith in an arbitrary god called ‘chance.’

What do I mean?

Well, by chance:

  • The Universe was formed (currently called Big Bang)
  • The Earth evolved
  • Local floods around the world appeared at same time
  • These floods were huge, mighty floods
  • They all worked together to change the Earth’s surface

And all this occurred without ‘real observable evidence’ and contrary to what is observable and reproducible. Both evolution and creation have one thing in common, they are both theories. However, creationism looks to the God of heaven Who created the Earth while evolution looks to no god unless he is called the god of chance. Both beliefs require faith, but evolution requires faith in a god that is ever changing; a god who is cruel, unhearing, and without a soul.

Perhaps we should worship and learn more about the God of heaven.
