When you turn on TV news or read the newspaper you are hit with the rise in cases and deaths which, in my opinion, creates a false narrative. Yes, the cases and deaths are rising, but is that where the focus should be?
The mask debate continues and most writers on the subject emphasize two things: It is like the seat belt controversy and that it saves lives.
I write primarily either historical events and people or future events and people. But a case can be made for writing about current events. There are a lot of possibilities; here’s a few:

People in the media pushed the panic mode, but here in the United States we have relatively few cases when compared to other countries. The travel bans regarding China (Feb. 3, 2020) have slowed the spread into the United States. In fact there is evidence that the 2017 travel bans on China also slowed it down.
