What About Gov. DeSantis vs. the Big Lie?

The Riddle Report 04 16 2021

There is a narrative out there which I call the Big Lie. The narrative is that Covid-19 can best be controlled by ‘locking down’ the country. It requires businesses to shut down and people to stay in their homes. It further causes Americans to live in fear.

But facts keep popping up and exposing the Big Lie for what it is.

#1 – The Beginning

Back in early 2020 about this time the Big Lie was already getting pushed hard. Dr. Fauci and the CDC pushed it as the right way to fight the virus. President Trump trusted him, as did a host of governors and legislators around the country. But it soon became apparent to the President and to Governor DeSantis that shutting down was not working.

#2 – The Shutdown

President Trump took a cautious approach and encouraged governors to shutdown their states. Governor DeSantis did with an initial 15-day shutdown which was followed by a 30-day shutdown.

Now, looking back, he admits it was a “huge mistake.” In a recent interview with Epoch Times, he talked at length about that and his actions since then.

#3 – Phased Reopening

Both President Trump and Governor DeSantis of Florida began pushing for the reopening of our states. Governor DeSantis was widely criticized by the media, the medical establishment, and by fellow Floridians.

Perhaps you remember, I know I do, the numerous Letters to the Editor that lambasted the Governor. It was vicious and coming from the Left.

But the Governor stood his ground, and we can be thankful that he did. While the liberals preached doom and gloom, the gradual reopening of our state not only brought business back, but the doom and gloom never appeared except in the southeast part of Florida where lockdowns remained.

The phased reopening of Florida and 5 other states, along with 8 other states that never shutdown, has proven the wisdom of reopening. Moreover, we have seen over time that the lockdown didn’t and doesn’t work. Blue state after blue state has stuck to the lockdown and their citizens have paid dearly. The State of New York, the poster state of Covid-19, was placed in lockdown by their governor the poster boy of Covid-19 with disastrous results. We all saw the body bags on national television. (A side note is that President Trump sent at least one hospital ship to New York only to see it barely used.)

New York remains the #1 in worst handling, although the media lionized the New York governor.

#4 – Doom and Gloom

Remember I said people were predicting doom and gloom. Governor DeSantis was getting blasted for his decisions. Well, those decisions led to a booming economy here in Florida. Children are back in school and the media still gets excited if one child gets Covid, but that has never become the problem that the teachers union and others said it would become.

You want doom and gloom you will have to visit some of the northern states, such as New York, Michigan, and others.

#5 – DeSantis’ Closing Remarks

If you listen to the media, the pandemic is still raging. Now they are talking about variants. But the truth is that the pandemic is winding down where the lockdowns have been lifted. That is not what the media wants to hear; nor is it what the liberal politicians want to hear.

The CDC appears to be backing away from some of its harshest advice, but it is going about it very slowly. Why? Listen to the Governor.

“But I don’t know that they’re willing to accept that reality. I think they’re going to try to have no cases at all, which would basically mean there would never be a full end to these policies, which is scary.”

And why is that probably true? Because these same people (governors, legislators, media, and some in the medical field, are heavily invested in the narrative they are pushing. Retreating in the face of mounting evidence doesn’t fit their agenda.

Not long ago a supporter of lockdowns cried out, “It’s science, stupid!” But they were wrong. It was and is bad science!

#6 – President Biden

There have been disturbing signs that the President’s mental capacity isn’t that great. There have been signs before, during, and after the election. That is scary.

But of even greater concern is that this once sharp politician doesn’t have the mental acumen nor the moral backbone to stand for what he once supported. Now he is pushing an agenda more closely aligned with his Vice President than his own past. Now he is pushing the vaccines.

#7 – Vaccines

President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed brought us the vaccines in record time. And that is fantastic. Not wanting to be outdone and laughed at for taking credit for the vaccines, President Biden is now pushing hard for everyone getting vaccinated. Despite rising occurrences of side effects, some fatal.

There is a time to rush and a time to evaluate. These vaccines need to be tested, analyzed, and tweaked so that these side effects are minimized.

One vaccine is now being “paused” and evaluated around the world. Two others should be watched carefully as well. Personally, I think they will resolve these issues if given time. But I don’t want to get vaccinated by an unproven model.

#8 – My Dad’s Advice

When I was a teenager, my dad gave me advice about buying a car. It went something like this, “Never buy a new model. Wait a couple of years for them to get the problems fixed.” That’s good advice for cars and it is good advice for vaccines. I am not saying wait 2 years, but I am saying let’s slow down and make sure these vaccines not only work but are safe!

#9 – Family Doctors

The medical community is no longer united on this issue. Some are pushing the idea of getting vaccinated, but some are more concerned about their patients than they are any benefits they might receive. Our doctors know our health and are taking a wait and see attitude about the vaccinations. And I am thankful for that. My wife is recovering from Cancer and I am a recovering heart attack patient (2014). Combined with the fact that we are both Type “O”, believed to be naturally resistant to the virus, we are advised not to get vaccinated. But we do practice social distancing and wearing the mask where required.

#10 – Conclusion

History has proven that “lockdowns” don’t work. Instead, they tend to excoriate the problem. Sometimes, plain old common sense is better than the most scientific responses. Science is often wrong; history is replete with erroneous scientific beliefs. And when everyone seems to be on the bandwagon for a supposed cure and won’t allow public dissent, it is a time to back away. My wife and I will be watching and may never get vaccinated. But one thing is for sure, as long as our doctors don’t push it on us, we aren’t volunteering.

I am glad that Florida has a Governor who has backbone. He saw the data and knew what the right thing was to do. And he did it! That same data was available to others and they ignored it or explained it away. And their people suffered for it.

Special Notice

If you watch TV and read the paper, you are aware of a resurgence in Covid-19 cases both abroad and here in the United States. They are calling it the second wave.

However, you need to take a closer look. It is not so much of a second wave as it is a continuation of the first wave. It is now hitting rural America. If you insist on calling it a second wave, I won’t argue with you. But to include it into the worldwide resurgence is simply not ethical.

I wrote a book, Trump an Outsider’s View, that covers Covid-19 and the Death Rate rather thoroughly. I still track the Death Rate and it is now down to 2.66%! That’s another 0.02% drop. And it is still going down. Dr. Fauci and others agree that the Trump Administration saved thousands of lives by restricting China travel in January, a fact which embarrasses Biden who opposed the restrictions. This is interesting since Dr. Fauci seems to now be in Biden’s camp (probably because he’ll have job security with Biden).

Another factor to be considered. Many liberals claim that the President said this and said that. I don’t have the time to argue each point. The truth is that action speaks louder than words. Both January and February were months of action that were wise and often. You can twist his words, but it is much harder to twist his actions (and not get caught!).

Monday News & Comments 08 24 20

Today’s Issue: Epicenter of Covid-19

Welcome to Monday News & Comments.

This morning I read an article that was critical of the way Florida has been handling Covid-19. To read that article you would think that Florida is the Epicenter of Covid-19 in the United States. That is not true!

What is true is that Florida cases peaked higher than New York, but the real story is in the deaths. In New York you saw body bags being stacked and stored, but in Florida there’s been nothing like that.

In SE Florida you have what we call the epicenter for Florida. It includes Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach. That area leads the nation in cases per capita. Another area is the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater area. And as mentioned above Florida surpassed New York in cases per capita. This has caused experts to label Florida the new epicenter of Covid-19. But let’s take a deeper look.

Florida has had 600,571 cases and 10,462 deaths for a Death Rate of 1.74%.

New York has had 460,460 cases and 32,967 deaths for a Death Rate of 7.16%.

Again, experts keep warning us that the numbers of deaths lag the case rise. Let’s assume they are correct, after all they are the experts. But New York’s numbers of deaths to cases has been extremely high from the beginning! Remember the body bags? They were hit early and hard.

In Florida’s situation the case load has been high for awhile now. There is no doubt the case load is much higher than New York’s, but it has not been nearly as deadly. When you compare the two states by death count you discover that Florida is less than 1/3 New York’s death count (10,462 / 32,967 = 31.7%) yet Florida’s cases are much higher (600,571-460,460 = 140,111 or 30.4% higher).

I contend that while cases per capita may be helpful to the experts, it is misleading to us average folks. It creates panic. It should raise concern because even 1 death is tragic, but the truth is that Florida is considerably safer than New York. You might get sicker down here, but your chances of survival are higher.

This throwing numbers around belongs in the lab not the newspaper or local news. It creates unnecessary panic. Getting sick (and they say for young adults it’s equivalent to a bad case of flu) is not to be feared. No one wants to get sick which is a good argument for wearing masks and practicing social distancing. But the death rate is encouraging news, especially since the time span now covers almost eight months!

But broadcasting these numbers on national TV is almost criminal. It creates a problem that is bigger than the facts, creates panic, keeps businesses shut down, and makes it hard for people to return to a more normal life.

We need more responsible reporting and less finger pointing.

Insight: Does This Novel Show How Depraved Man Is?

Monday through Friday I deal with different subjects in this blog. I also post my blog to my Facebook page at RFrederickRiddlesWorld. Tuesday’s I try to focus on Insights. This week I am taking a look at Insight: Does This Novel Show How Depraved Man Is.

My latest book Black Death doesn’t deal with abortion but rather the inhumanity of man to man. It shows how men (and women) can treat others so cruelly that it can cause severe injury and even death. When talking about abortion we are essentially talking about the same topic.

Recently New York State passed a law that allows the inhumane murder of unborn babies. It is an atrocity that violates Christian values and Biblical directives. In fact, it violates all morality represented by Christianity and even man-made religion. I know of no religion that supports such cruelty.

Yesterday I wrote about abortion and included a link to Mike Higgins who heads up Hope Children’s Home. If you missed his comments you can hear them here.

In Black Death an evil doctor developed a frightening biological weapon that killed within seconds and then consumed the victim’s body. He hated Christians everywhere and went to Pauline to further develop and test his weapon with the ultimate goal of destroying all Christians on Pauline and Earth. Part of his plan included a camp he named Camp Terror. Here’s an excerpt from the book.

“Welcome to Camp Terror, ladies. Starting right now you’re my slaves. You are the property of the People’s Brigade and you will work for me doing exactly what I say when I say. I’m sure you have noticed that two of you only have on a bra and panty. Well that’s your uniform from now on until you die. The naked one is for a lesson I’m about to teach.

——-

“You’ll spend your days working for me. Among your chores will be the erection of a barracks, a mess hall, and camp headquarters plus a cattle pen and a shower. I have the distinct pleasure of teaching and assigning your work. Obey me and you’ll live another day.”

She smiled and walked around the girls.

“James here selected you for your beautiful bodies, but he also selected you because you look healthy. You want to stay healthy and get fed regularly you obey everything we tell you.”

She squatted down, grabbed Carla by her scalp and pulled her head back. Sally looked over the girl’s body.

“James and I have different uses for your bodies, but in both cases we need strong, healthy girls. And you fit the bill.”

By now the girls were again sobbing, this time uncontrollably. Sally watched unpityingly.

——-

Thus began a reign of terror. Not just terror but inhumane treatment of women simply because they were Christians! Abortion is the inhumane treatment of the unborn simply because they are inconvenient! Abortion is based on the wrongful belief that the unborn baby (fetus) is a part of a woman’s body. This is both scientifically and spiritually in error. That fetus is a human being dependent upon his or her mother for safety and sustenance. As the baby grows it develops a heart, brain, hands, and feet. It can feel and maybe understand.

But there is something more. In Psalm 22:10 we read:

“I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.”

In other words David is saying he worshipped God from his mother’s belly.

In Psalm 139:3 we read: “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.”

In Luke 1:41 we read about John the Baptist who was still in the womb at six months when Mary, only recently having conceived, visited her cousin Elisabeth who was six months pregnant with John the Baptist.

“And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:”

In other words, the Bible clearly tells and demonstrates that an unborn baby is known of God and can at least recognize the presence of God. Liberals deny this of course. To them the baby is a disease, a tumor, and needs to be removed. We, the people of the United States and, indeed, the world have lost how many wonderful people who could have made inventions, developed cures, established governments, and done innumerable things for humanity but were summarily murdered? Simply because they were inconvenient!

The liberal responds that the woman’s mental health is at stake. This has no real merit because once the baby has been born the mother has options to let someone adopt the baby or as seen below raise the child for her. And there is another factor to consider. I have read of women who had their child aborted and then suffered years of anguish and guilt not because someone put the guilt on them but because a feeling of guilt and remorse overtook them.

All this is going on while millions of husbands and wives are yearning for children and many people travel to foreign countries to adopt babies. Not because the babies are better than American babies but because our government makes it almost impossible to adopt in America.

Hope Children’s Home is unique in its willingness to care for babies as well as other children. Their mission is to help the child and the family. But there are other organizations willing to care for the unborn as well. In other words, if the mother doesn’t want the baby there are others who would love to raise that child as their own or, as in the case of Hope, raise them and work with the parents with the idea of being reunited as a family.

But what can we do about that?

All of us can pray for revival! God wants to revive us. Let’s give Him the chance. But there are other ways as well. For example, you can keep informed and take advantage of those moments when you can let your leaders know that abortion is not a right, but is murder.

You can right a blog as I am doing. Use whatever talents you have. Perhaps you were born for this moment!

I believe the best thing that all of us can do is get our hearts right with God. Contrary to liberal teaching America was founded on Biblical principles. Our history books used to document this fact, but our newer history books tend to delete God’s involvement with America. But we need to turn back to Him.

In line with this thought I invite all of you that live within driving distance of Port Charlotte Florida or will be visiting Port Charlotte this week to visit the Florida Gospel Crusade which will be going on from today February 18 through the 20th. There will be great preaching, music, and more at the crusade. You can find more information here.

Should We Deny Abortion (Murder of unborn) is Evil?

Monday through Friday I deal with different subjects in this blog. I also post my blog to my Facebook page at RFrederickRiddlesWorld. Monday’s I try to focus on issues. This week I am taking a look at Should We Deny Abortion is Evil?

I am against abortion. Period! The only time that I would consider abortion would be in the case of saving the mother’s life – not her inconvenience. Even there I would be hesitant. It would be a last resort!

Last Monday I wrote about the Holocaust which was the attempt by Hitler’s Germany to destroy Jewish people. Today I’m writing about another Holocaust, the attempt by liberals to destroy defenseless humans we call the unborn. Another name is infanticide!

Recently the state of New York enacted a law that was literally applauded by liberals that would allow abortion not only in the tri-semester of a baby’s development up to the very moment before the baby is born! That is evil and should be condemned not applauded. This inhumane act violates all morality completely. It is argued that such abortions must be determined by a licenses medical or health practitioner and for reasons of protecting life or health of mother. Life is one thing, but undefined health is quite another. It is also argued that later term abortions are rare. Excuse me, even one abortion is wrong! The whole idea is to murder unborn children as easily as possible!

My wife and I have not been blessed with children, but we love and value all children no matter their race or gender. Children are a gift from God and are precious in His sight. Just recently Teresa and I visited Hope Children’s Home in Tampa, Florida. What a blessing to see these young children from babies to teens which are raised in an environment where they experience a life that could result in being reunited with their families. This is a ministry that is willing to take in babies that mothers don’t want. From unofficial sources I heard that if they did it would be with the goal of eventually reuniting the child with the mother.

Of all the religions in the world I know of none that devalue life like that. But Christianity not only opposes abortion it has Biblical authority to base it on. I will go in to this more in tomorrow’s blog. In fact the only two religions worth considering are Old Testament Judaism and Christianity. In both cases God’s Word is exalted and they both condemn abortion!

My blog appears short today because I believe that missionary Mike Higgins, (title) of Hope Children’s Home comments on this subject better than I can do. Please listen to him here.
